John Huot

2022 Candidate Survey

Describe your personal experience with skateboarding.

I may be a skateboard in the 70s however the skate boards of today are nowhere near the 2 x 4 and rollerskates that we made out of ours. I know a number of them my son skateboards my sons friends all skateboard. I know the city I live in has a really great skate park and I would continue to support that or any other community that wants to put one in. I believe that we looked at the number of these projects on the bonding committee and I would support them.

Can you do a kick flip?

Do the communities you would represent have quality, accessible, visible skateboarding spaces?

Because I’m not a skateboarder I would depend on those that do skateboard to tell me if our city has an adequate space or adequate place to skateboard. I would also look to your group personally to advise me on this subject

Do you see the connection between skateboarding and social, racial, gender, and economic equity? If so, please share a few thoughts.

Any activity that’s positive such as skateboarding has an effect on racial and equity issues. It’s definitely a sport or an activity that everyone could enjoy and there’s very little economic hurdles in the way of skateboarding.

How will you support youth and community health with new ideas and infrastructure?

Being on the combine in committee I was able to look at the projects around the state that have been presented and are moving forward. If we get a Bonnybill I will support the skate parks

Will you support fully funding the Minnesota Skate Park Grant Program (SF2502/HF2876) in the 2023 Legislative session and beyond?
