2022 Candidate Survey

Describe your personal experience with skateboarding.

A long time and 100 pounds ago I used to do some long boarding when I still lived in California. I grew up with the culture on the 90s and 2000s in San Diego skate scenes just being a general background of my life. Skating is a great outlet for kids and adults to get them active and even though I'm in the mountain biking groups these days, I fully support it. Also I will defend Golfinger- Superman as the greatest skate rock song of all time.

Can you do a kick flip?

No

Do the communities you would represent have quality, accessible, visible skateboarding spaces?

There used to be a skate park and bmx track in the town that I live in currently. It was torn down a few years before I moved here and replaced with a pickleball court that it hardly used. Currently there is little to nothing in town for anyone to do outdoors besides a few playgrounds.

Do you see the connection between skateboarding and social, racial, gender, and economic equity? If so, please share a few thoughts.

I guess growing up in a very diverse area it was just something everyone did. Class divides never really came into play over it.

How will you support youth and community health with new ideas and infrastructure?

I have pushed for building youth centers at a local level for a long time. If in office at a state level I would continue to do so. It's been proven time and time again that keeping kids engaged keeps them from getting in trouble and it's our job to provide the tools to do so.

Will you support fully funding the Minnesota Skate Park Grant Program (SF2502/HF2876) in the 2023 Legislative session and beyond?

Yes
